The Blackwing 602 pencil was the pencil of choice for many Grammy, Emmy, Pulitzer and Academy Award winners throughout the 20th century. In 1998, after several corporate acquisitions, it was discontinued, but not forgotten. In fact, fans began paying as much as $40 for a single Blackwing pencil before it was revived in 2010 by Palomino.
Since then, Blackwing has grown from a single pencil into a culture that encourages and empowers creativity in all forms. In 2014, they introduced Blackwing Music, an independent music collective that seeks to spotlight emerging songwriters in the folk, roots and americana genres through live performances and studio recordings.
